Instead of relying on bottled vitamins, I highly urge people to eat their vitamins. What July veggies n’ fruits are packed with Vitamin C? Randomly enough, broccoli and mustard greens. You don’t need OJ and papaya to get by. Check this chart out as well…

Coffee is my nemesis. I love it. It tastes so good. But it makes me feel sooooo crazy. But not when I tried cold-brewed coffee. For some reason, it doesn’t make me feel like jumping out of my own skin. Mind you, it’s not a good idea to drink too much of this good thing, but big shout outs to AB for writing a nice homage to one of summer’s best treats (which won’t make you have caffiene sweats.)

the rain

UGH. We all can’t stop talking about it, feeling it, hating it. Here in the Northeast, it JUST KEEPS ON RAINING. Well me might all feel depressed, wet, and bored, but our farmers are really suffering. There hasn’t been more than three consecutive days for proper field work in a week, during the last MONTH for our Pennsylvania farmers. That means less yield, weaker crops, and delayed plantings. Ultimately, for us, that means we might not see all that we want to see at the farmstand this summer. For the farmer, it’s a lot more serious. More here.

If you are as obsessed with making ice cream (or eating it) as me AND you are a lactard, or just don’t want to eat crazy amounts of dairy (truthfully not a good idea), check out this book, The Vegan Scoop. Really neat. I heart vegan desserts that don’t call for margerine. You can pick up locally made soy milk at Pumpkin Market on South Street too, fyi.

Ah, a roof garden in the city. There is something about making this happen amidst miles of concrete that makes it just as serene as the real thing. Or better. Courtesy of Brooklyn Roof Garden.
